Social mobility in University context: more than a quarter of Canadian University and College rectors were not born in Canada
According to an information recently provided by the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, 26.3% of University and College rectors were not born in Canada. This percentage does testify the ability of Canadian research and teaching institutions to “absorb” and “digest” brains coming from almost everywhere in the world. This ability is not granted. If we imagine how difficult it is in other countries for foreign researchers and PhD holders to have access at lectureship or tenurable teaching positions in postsecondary institutions, we can realise that Canada proves to have a very integrative scientific community. However, before any conclusion be done, we need more investigations and preferably from a comparative perspective.

NB: The University of Western Ontario is one of the top Canadian Universities. It is located in the city of London in the province of Ontario.
