PhD scholarships in Lung Biology and Disease (Germany)

The International CPC Research School Lung Biology and Disease is offering full-time doctoral positions in the field of translational pulmonary medicine.

The Comprehensive Pneumology Center, a translational research center dedicated to pulmonary medicine, was founded by three partners: The Helmholtz Zentrum München – German Research Center for Environmental Health, an expert in bridging fundamental experimental research with applied medical research, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) with the University Hospital, one of the Top-Level-Universities in the German Excellence Initiative, and the Asklepios Hospital München-Gauting, one of the leading hospitals specialized on lung disease in Germany.
The International Research School Lung Biology and Disease (http://www.cpc-researchschool.org) is the premier educational platform at the CPC and is now seeking highly qualified and motivated doctoral students for the following research groups:

Lung Tissue Remodelling
Lung Repair and Regeneration
Developmental Immune Biology
Proteasome Function
Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia
Nanoparticle dosimetry
Dynamic of inflammatory lung diseases
Molecular genetic of lung diseases
Immunopathology of COPD

Over a period of 3 years, you would benefit from comprehensive teaching curricula and close mentorship while performing cutting edge research projects within one of the CPC research groups. Under supervision of highly experienced faculty members, you would have the opportunity to investigate lung biology and disease at the interface of basic sciences and clinical medicine.

The program starts at any time for a duration of 3 years. The working language is English and the language of the Doctoral Thesis is also English

Requirements for Applicant

Subject Requirements (Qualification)
The program is intended for:
– Selected applicants from any country with a master?s degree (or equivalent) in biochemistry, biology, veterinary or human medicine, molecular biology, or related life-sciences and a commitment to a career in translational medical research
– Medical students and doctors who plan a career in biomedical science

Good knowledge of the English language is necessary for successful completion of the program. Desirable is:
– an internationally recognized examination in English (e.g. TOEFL with min. 550)
– a degree of an English-speaking school or university or
– a longer stay abroad
