Call for applications for 2 MD / PhD positions – Human Medecine (Germany)

Applicants for MD/PhD positions should have completed their medical studies and have performed an excellent experimental MD thesis. Applicants should be interested in translational research in order to find novel solutions in interdisciplinary research areas.

The specialisation and specific requirements to the applicants are given in the single projects. Except Research Project Nr. 2 we are currently looking for applicants in all projects. For more information to the individual projects take a look at: Research Projects.

Candidates are selected on the basis of excellent performance in their studies and their motivation. As all teaching will be in English applicants should have good English knowledge. Foreign applicants may be aware that even if English is commonly used at the UDE and its partner universities, for daily life in Germany a good knowledge of German is helpful. Thus we encourage and support successfull applicants to take part in German courses at the beginning of the programme.

Good to know

The three-year structured programme will start in April 2015 and consists of lecture series, retreats, symposia, lab-rotations and method courses. In addition, participants are enforced to present their data on national and international conference. The duration of the MD/PhD position will be up to three years. The salary is in accordance with the German public service salary scale (TV-L E13, 100%).

On the basis of your documents we will preselect potential candidates. Successfully shortlisted candidates will be invited to give a short presentation of their MD thesis at December 8 or 9, 2014 in Essen, Germany. After the talk, there will be interviews with the project leaders of your preferred projects and the opportunity for a lab visit. Candidates will hear about the decision of the admission at the end of december 2014.
