Job Opportunity- Junior Research Fellow (Water Quality) at the UN University in Bonn

1. Junior Research Fellow (Water Quality) (UNU-EHS) (P2)

Under the authority of the Director of UNU-EHS/Vice Rector in Europe and the supervision of the Head of the Environmental Vulnerability and Ecosystem Services Section, the successful candidate shall be entrusted with, among others, the following tasks:

Coordinate all the water quality initiatives undertaken by UNU-EHS in the Mekong Delta
Provide technical and scientific advice to three PhD students and various MSc students working on water quality within the WISDOM project
Contribute to the development of analytical methods for the laboratory analysis of various pollutants, including pesticides and antibiotics.

2. Junior Research Fellow (Vulnerability and Adaptation) (UNU-EHS) (P2)

Under the authority of the Director of UNU-EHS/Vice Rector in Europe and the supervision of the Head of the Vulnerability Assessment, Risk Management and Adaptive Planning Section the successful candidate shall be entrusted with, among others, the following tasks:

Coordinate the vulnerability and adaptation related assessments undertaken by UNU-EHS in the Mekong Delta project WISDOM
Provide technical and scientific advice in cooperation with the Head of Section to two PhD students and various MSc students working on vulnerability assessment and adaptation to water-related hazards within the project
Contribute to the identification, assessment and evaluation of vulnerability patterns and trends with regard to floods and additional water related stressors.

3. Junior Research Fellow (UNU-EHS) (P2)

Under the authority of the Director of UNU-EHS/Vice Rector in Europe, and the supervision of the Head of Environmental Migration, Social Vulnerability and Adaptation Section, the successful candidate will carry out the following tasks together with other scientists, students of other UNU-EHS sections as needed, as well as with other project partners:

Project Management (selection):

Coordinate work of UNU-EHS Research Associates working on the Where the Rain Falls project
Coordinate work of CARE project coordinator including research–related work, fieldwork logistics; project deliverables, project reporting, Community Based Approach (CBA) activities in case study countries, education, video production, budget management)
Research (selection):

Lead research efforts (including desk work, methods preparation, site selection, field-work, analysis and writing)
Guide methodological development under direction of Head of Section
Guide the framing of fieldwork design of the project
