Postdoctoral opportunity in Nano-Biophotonics (Denmark)
DTU Fotonik, Department of Photonics Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark invites applications for a 1.5-year postdoctoral position starting from April 15, 2013.
The work will be on development of new and innovative schemes for state-of-the-art trapping, manipulation and characterization by “light only” with pioneering applications in optofluidics, bio- and nanophotonics research. The position is part of a newly granted project “e-space” under the auspice of the Danish Council for Strategic Research.
The research project will specifically focus on using proprietary optical parallel encoding and modulation techniques for:
- Further developing our proprietary BioPhotonics Workstation platform
- Implementing structure-mediated nano-biophotonics experiments
- Researching on new applications of our Wave-guided Optical Waveguides
The work will be carried out in an experimentally oriented research environment at the forefront of a highly active and competitive area of science including the potential for commercial spin-off activities. The project will involve collaborative research with leading academic and industrial groups in Europe, Japan and USA.
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in physics, optics or biophotonics engineering and demonstrate strong experience in experimental physics, bio-optics, microscopy, electronics and in particular computer-based control and instrumentation.
Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
