Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biological sciences- Centre for Molecular Medicine (Norway)
Functional Genomics Gene regulation, drug resistance and systems biologyNCMM focuses particularly on disease mechanisms where Norway has clear strengths and will investigate mechanisms of non-communicable diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular and CNS-related diseases, inflammation and immune disorders and stem cells.
Project:
The recent established Breast Cancer Research group of Antoni Hurtado (group leader at NCMM-EMBL) is seeking to recruit a postdoctoral research for a three-year period with experience in genomics. The Hurtado’s laboratory studies the mechanism of resistance to treatments in breast and endometrial cancers. The laboratory has established collaboration with local (Børresen-Dale, Oslo University Hospital, Norway) and international laboratories (Julio Saez, IIBI-EMBL, UK), which are key for the success of the project. The successful candidate will work with a team of researchers and scientists in a project that seeks the Identification and characterization of partners modulating Estrogen Receptor (ER) mediated repression.
Job description:
The team is looking for a candidate with experience in functional genomics. Experience in computational analyses will be an additional value. You will be responsible of obtaining and analysing of genomic data obtained from tissue culture experiments.
Skills required:
We seek a highly motivated person who appreciates working in an international and interactive environment. The ideal applicant is characterized to have strong organizational and communication skills. Is also expected to work effectively within a variety of situations, handle several projects simultaneously and complete tasks within the relevant time lines.
Qualified candidates must have a PhD with demonstrable knowledge in Biology/Genomics skills. Candidate should have experience in the following methods:
-Gene transfection (lentivirus system) and tissue culture.
-Genomic techniques (ChIP-sequencing, FAIRE-sequencing and expression microarrays).
-Computational analyses of genomic data (web-based bioinformatics tools and DNA genome informatics)
Other information:
The University of Oslo has an agreement for all employees, aiming to secure rights to research results and intellectual property.
Applications should include a covering letter summarizing the applicant’s career, past research accomplishments (1-2 pages), CV and a list of publications, copies of certificates and grades, and names of three references.
The position will be placed as SKO (Position Code) 1352 Post-doctor, with salary range depending on qualifications: 57 – 64 (NOK 468 400 – 533 000).
