300 PhD Scholarships in Physics at the Universities of Darmstadt, Frankfurt and Giessen (Germany)
HGS-HIRe offers a structured PhD education in theoretical, experimental or applied physics. Projects will be hosted within the groups of our scientific partners, where the topics are from the fields of:
High Energy Nuclear Physics
Nuclear Structure Physics
Nuclear Astrophysics
Atomic Physics
Accelerator Physics
Biophysics
Material Science
Additionally to the scientific education within the working groups of the university professors HGS-HIRe hosts regular scientific events like Lecture Weeks, Graduate Days, Journal Clubs, Seminars, Colloquia and Power Weeks. Several Soft Skill courses especially tailored for the needs of the participants of the program are offered on a yearly basis for all participants.
HGS-HIRe offers an international scientific environment, with strong collaborations all over the world. Special programs and funding for travel are offered to each participant, which enables participants to strengthen and build collaborations with international top scientists.
The programme start at any time for a duration of 3 years. English is the working language of the programme. PhD thesis can be submitted in English.
Requirements for Applicant
All applicants are required to hold a Master Degree in Natural Sciences or an equivalent degree. The language of the school is English, thus a sufficient proficiency of English (oral, as well as written) is required to join the school.

I have dome MS degree in Laser physics and work on the project « Enhancement of O-Atom Density through Collisions with He, Ar and Ne in Laser Produced Sparks in O2-He, O2-Ne and O2-Ar Gas Mixtures »). Thanks for your message. I can’t advise you to apply for this programme because you are almost at the end of you PhD project. However, I strongly advise you to apply for a postdoc position in the same institutes. Just send a letter of motivation plus your cv. Do not forget to write some few lines about your research project and what you intend to in the institute in case your application is given a positive reply.
