Canada, USA, Climate change and lifestyle: Where the West sees wrong!
From november 28th to december 12th, 2011, the city of Durban was the world’s centre. This was not in remembrance of the 2001 World Conference against Racism which highlighted the horrible tragedy of slaves’ trade, the saddest moment in human history. Durban has been the world’s centre because of the United Nations Climate Change Conference. Before the opening ceremony, rumours were mounting, saying that Canada will withdraw from the Kyoto process. But none of the analysts we have contacted these recent days was able to confirm this information. They were even unanimous on the fact that Canada is likely to remain within the framework of the Kyoto agreement. Their conviction was based on the fact that Canada’s foreign policy has always been driven by the principles of multilateralism and consensus in the decision making process in international institutions. We actually learn that Canada has withdrawn from the Kyoto agreement, and that even China has expressed “regrets” about Ottawa’s decision. Canada is not alone in this position. The USA have never ratified the Kyoto agreement. Finally, in which direction are we moving actually? Should we destroy humanity just for the maintenance of our consumerist lifestyle?
This is a video statement of the Canadian Minister in charge of the environment:
