La tentation demeure, et certaines autorit\u00e9s acad\u00e9miques se font prendre au pi\u00e8ge de l\u2019ethnie.\u00a0 En juillet 2013, l’Universit\u00e9 Catholique d’Afrique centrale (voir photo) \u00e9tait au c\u0153ur d’une initiative de r\u00e9vision des conditions d’admission, initiative visant \u00e0 prendre en compte l’appartenance ethnique des candidats aux \u00e9tudes. Cette mesure fut d\u00e9cri\u00e9e, et \u00e0 raison.<\/p>\n

Tout d’abord, il n’appartient pas \u00e0 une autorit\u00e9 acad\u00e9mique de d\u00e9finir le r\u00e8gles ayant pour effet de discriminer positivement ou n\u00e9gativement. L\u2019\u00c9tat (par voie parlementaire) institue la loi et ses r\u00e8glements d’application, et les recteurs d’universit\u00e9s tout comme les employeurs du secteur priv\u00e9 les appliquent. En tout temps, le principe doit demeurer celui de l’\u00e9gal acc\u00e8s de tous \u00e0 l’\u00e9ducation.<\/p>\n

The Role of Antisemitism in the Expulsion of non-Aryan Students, 1933-1945<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n

\u00ab \u201cThe goal is achieved! No more Jews at German Universities,\u201d read the headline of the main Nazi student paper, Die Bewegung, in late 1938. The author hailed the students as the vanguard of Nazism at the institutions of higher learning. The student journalist argued that students, rather than professors and academic administrators, had pioneered antisemitism at German universities before 1933. By putting pressure on the authorities to expedite the expulsion of Jews, the journalist concluded, students made an important contribution to the creation of the Nazi university in the Third Reich.<\/p>\n

This contemporary assessment of the role of students and professors stands in sharp contrast to the conclusions of modern historians. The two most important articles written on the expulsion process concentrate almost exclusively on the operation of the Nazi bureaucratic machine and on the fights between various party and state organizations, each trying to aggrandize itself by realizing its own agenda. They do not discuss, however, what happened to Jewish students at the local level during the months after the Nazi takeover in January 1933. Neither do they examine the roles and motives of Gentile students and professors in the expulsion process. \u00bb<\/p>\n
