Ideally, they should have dealt with relevant topics during their degree programme or in projects. Essential criteria are an interest in empirical research, an orientation with regard to current research topics and findings, the ability to read and reflect on scientific texts critically (also in English) as well as the ability to express themselves clearly and concisely.
