Travel costs to and from Japan, visa handling fees, and health\/accident insurance costs must be covered by the student.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Applicants for\u00a0the Master of Science in Sustainability, Development, and Peace are required to have\u00a0met the following\u00a0requirements by the application deadline\u00a0in order to be considered:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>1. A completed bachelor\u2019s degree (or equivalent) from a recognised university or institution of higher education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Those who expect to graduate and have a bachelor\u2019s degree or its equivalent conferred before enrolment may also apply.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>2. A particular interest and career aspiration in at least one of the following thematic areas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Global Change and Sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Peace and Security<\/li>\n<li>International Cooperation and Development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For more information on these areas, please refer to the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/isp.unu.edu\/research\/index.html\">Research page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>3. English language proficiency<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The minimum score requirements for English language qualifications required by UNU-ISP are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>600 in TOEFL &#8211; Paper-Based Testing (PBT)<\/li>\n<li>100 in TOEFL &#8211; Internet-Based Testing (iBT)<\/li>\n<li>7.0 in IELTS &#8211; Academic format<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Applicants, except for the cases below, must submit original TOEFL or IELTS score reports (from a test taken within the last two\u00a0years) to Admissions Office at the time of application:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Applicants whose first language is English.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants who graduated from a university or a postgraduate school located in an English speaking country.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants who completed an undergraduate or postgraduate degree programme where the language of instruction and examination was English. In this case, an official statement from the academic institution will be required, confirming the use of English as the language of instruction and examination.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">UNU-ISP requires original TOEFL\/IELTS score reports (no photocopies accepted).<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>TOEFL: Please order an official score report using an institution code 6991. For more information on IELTS, please visit\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ielts.org\/\">http:\/\/www.ielts.org\/<\/a><\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>How to apply: Online<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">During admission selection process, outstanding applicants from developing countries with financial need will be automatically considered as candidates for the award of the JFUNU scholarship.
