PhD Position at the Technische Universität Dresden (Germany)

At TU Dresden, the Cluster of Excellence ‘Center for Advancing Electronics Dresden’ (cfaed) offers a fixed-term  PhD position (E 13 TV-L)

Topic:  Basic circuits of chemical logic

cfaed Investigators:  Prof. Andreas Richter, Prof. Christof Fetzer

cfaed research area:  Chemical Information Processing Path

 Terms:
75% of the fulltime weekly hours, start asap, limited for 30 months. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG).

This research project deals with the design and technology of basic logic circuits in hydrogel-based microfluidic chips. The first step in this project will be the development and characterization of the appropriate active hydrogel components e.g., chemical transistors. The processing of chemical signals that can be achieved with these components will be analyzed. Based on these results basic logic circuits will be built and applied to the control of microfluidic flows. A special interest lies in the question which paradigms from electronic logics can be directly transferred to microfluidics and which have to be modified.

 What we offer
You will join a team of enthusiastic scientists who creatively pursue their individual research agenda inspired by the cluster’s innovative approach and support. Your PhD-research will be fostered by the cfaed philosophy to promote young researches which includes: access to state of the art research of leading academic institutes; international postgraduate program; individual supervision by a Thesis Advisory Committee; possibility to earn (seed) grants of up to € 10.000; promotion of gender equality and family-friendly work environment.

Informal enquiries can be submitted to Prof. A. Richter, Tel +49 (351) 463 32025; Email: andreas.richter7@tu-dresden.de.

Applications from women are particularly welcome. The same applies to people with disabilities.

 Application Procedure
Your application (in English only) should include: motivation letter, CV, copy of degree certificate, transcript of grades (i.e. the official list of coursework including your grades) and
proof of English language skills. Complete applications should be submitted preferably by email
as a single PDF-document quoting the reference number: PhD1407-E3 in the subject header to: recruiting.cfaed@tu-dresden.de (Please note: We are currently not able to receive
