PhD scholarship in Microbial Biofilms (Denmark)

TU DenmarkIn connection with an EU project we look for a skilled and motivated PhD student who will conduct his or her work in a close collaboration between DTU Systems Biology and the NNF Center for Biosustainability. The successful candidate will work together with a wide range of experts within bacterial biofilms and systems biotechnology.

Responsibilities and tasks
The candidate will be participating in an international project with academic and industry partners from Germany, Spain and Israel. The project will focus on the inherent instability of biosynthetic production systems. The project will include molecular microbiology (e.g. genomic sequencing and analysis, RNA sequencing), biofilm reactor design and operation, and microscopy and image analysis.The successful candidate must be highly motivated toward investigating the molecular details of how microbes perform and evolve, be an efficient team worker and have a critical approach to formulation and experimental testing of hypotheses.Qualifications
Candidates should have a master’s degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master’s degree in engineering.

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.
