PhD scholarship in Cancer Cell Biology – Center for Nanomedicine and Theranostics (Denmark)

A PhD scholarship is available within cancer cell biology in relation to research in new biomaterials for use in cancer radiotherapy. The project is part of a collaboration between the Technical University of Denmark, Copenhagen University and Rigshospitalet. The purpose of the project is to develop new nanoparticle based contrast agents as well as drug delivery systems for potentiating radiotherapy.

The position is part of the Center for Nanomedicine and Theranostics and the Colloids and Biological Interface groupat the Department of Micro and Nanotechnology.

1 other PhD position and 1 Post doc position are also available for the project.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a master’s degree in cell biology or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a master’s degree.

The project is focused on developing new drug delivery systems where the successful applicant will work on biological testing of newly developed drug delivery systems. These investigations include enhancing the mechanistic understanding of the interactions between drug carriers and cancer cells including mode of action of the drug delivery systems. Some formulation work of new drugs will also be part of the project. The successful applicant should have a background in cell biology preferentially with focus on cancer.

Applicants should have a strong interest in working experimentally in a cross-disciplinary environment and have very good collaboration skills. Strong communication skills are an advantage and a strong academic record is a requirement. The applicants should strive towards scientific excellence, be ambitious and hard working. Only applicants with great talent and a possibility to be among the brightest in their field will be considered.
