15 Doctoral Scholarships in Engineering Sciences (Hannover, Germany)

The PhD-program ´Multifunctional Active and Reactive Interfaces and Surfaces´ (MARIO) focuses on interdisciplinary research in cooperation between Leibniz Universität Hannover, Hannover Medical School and the University of Applied Sciences at Hannover. Funding has been granted by the State of Lower Saxony. The funding period is 3 years.
PhD students will receive 1.400 EUR/month as a stipend with additional benefits regarding child care and travel allowance for applicants coming from abroad.

MARIO provides a forum for research and development based on newest methods for thermo-chemo-mechanical interactions at contact surfaces and interfaces. Application areas are related to mechanical engineering, biomedical science, nanotechnology, chemical modified surfaces and composite materials.

The program start on 01.04.2013 for a duration of 36 months. The Working Language is English or German

Requirements (Qualification)

Applicants must provide a diploma or masters degree in engineering or applied natural sciences, like mathematics, chemistry, physics etc. that is equivalent to a German University Graduation.
Applications from outstanding candidates who obtained their graduation from a University of Applied Sciences are welcome as well. A strong background in mathematical modelling of complex processes and related computational solution techniques is required. Candidates should also be prepared to spend several months of their studies abroad at one of our partner universities.
