6 PhD scholarships at the IHRS NANONET (Dresden, Germany)
The IHRS NanoNet is an interdisciplinary research school in the field of molecular electronics open to outstanding students of all nationalities with backgrounds in physics, chemistry, electrical engineering, and materials science. The 3-years PhD programme includes independent research work in a project involving different branches of science and engineering and a well-structured scientific curriculum providing for a comprehensive training in technical and professional skills.
The IHRS NanoNet is currently offering 6 PhD Scholarships (M/F) for 3 years. The online application platform will be open from June 2012 until August 15, 2012.
The IHRS NANONET an initiative of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden – Rossendorf e.V. (HZDR) in a joint collaboration with the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD), Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF), Fraunhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing (IZFP), and the Nanoelectronics Materials Laboratory (NaMLab) gGmbH, and supported by the Helmholtz Association. The research school offers an interdisciplinary research training programme in the field of molecular electronics. The 3-years PhD programme includes independent research work in a project involving different divisions of science and engineering and a well structured curriculum providing for a comprehensive training in technical and professional skills.
The programme covers the following topics:
– molecular synthesis
– electrical contacting of nanoscale electronics
– modeling of properties on an atomistic level
The research school is open to highly qualified and motivated doctoral candidates of all nationalities holding or about to earn a Master´s degree (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, materials science and electrical engineering. The official language of the research school is English; very good oral and written communication skills in the language are required.

Requirements:
The successful candidate will:
- hold (or be about to earn) a Master?s degree (or equivalent) in physics, chemistry, materials science or electrical engineering and have demonstrated an outstanding academic performance.
- have prior research experience and demonstrated potential and enthusiasm to conduct challenging research towards a PhD.
- have excellent team-working skills and be motivated to work in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment.
- have experience at working in a multicultural environment.
- Good English language skills
